The whiteboard can be a very effective tool when used properly in a group meeting. Having done hundreds of sales calls, it is my preferred tool for an impromptu discussion. It can be used to allow the participants in the meeting to see what is possible, then help them to create a custom plan of action that is based on their needs and requirements. The whiteboard also allows for brief technical tangents to more fully discuss a portion of the solution, and also to show that the person wielding the whiteboard pen knows their stuff.

At the end of the session, the whiteboard is then filled with a complete plan of action. You know you have done your job when members of the audience come up afterwards and take pictures of the filled up whiteboard!
